Practical workshop:
Entrepreneurs – how to better manage your professional and personal time
π£ It’s back-to-school time in most of Europe! As an entrepreneur and freelancer, I love the challenge of organising my professional and personal constraints. It’s a familiar tune.
π September is the month when everything starts up again!
As an entrepreneur, freelancer and mother, I’ve spent years perfecting a foolproof plan to make the new school year a breeze!
π Let me tell you what that looks like in practice with some tips.
1. I’ve found a way to optimise my ‘mental back office’! I dedicate a week to tidying up and sorting out the house, and I automate and readjust household tasks. I look at what works and what needs to be revised.
2. I enter all the dates in my Google calendar, including the children’s activities and who is looking after them. I also plan for back-ups (childcare, etc.) in case things don’t go to plan (and let’s be clear, they NEVER go to plan).
3. It’s time to reset professional priorities! It’s the perfect chance to sort and prioritise all those projects that were put on hold before the summer holidays. (Yes, I don’t work at all, or only minimally during the breaks, which means I’m super efficient when I get back!)
4. I’m working again on my strategic plans! Drawing up backcasts and adjusting objectives for the next three to twelve months.
β Despite the amazing strides we’ve made as a society and the incredible efforts of so many kind men, there’s still a lot of work to be done to ensure that the mental burden is shared more equally. We need to make structural changes that go beyond what parents can do.
π For executive women & entrepreneurs, it’s an additional challenge that requires organisation if they are to have the time to devote to developing their businesses β and it’s a challenge they’re ready to take on!
π I’m so excited to announce that on 24/09/2024, Le MILA association in Paris will be hosting a discussion on time management between work and personal life. While we’re waiting for a real structural change in society, we can make a difference by doing our best!
